The work carried out was as follows:- Body fully stripped & shot blasted, all welding carried out as required & replacement panels fitted, engine fully overhauled, gearbox & rear axle were overhauled too, steering & suspension were rebuilt. All chrome-work was replated or replaced, interior upholstery was re-trimmed in soft sumptuous real blue leather, new quality tailored carpets & headliner fitted, new sunshine roof. Electronic ignition & kenlowe cooling fan fitted. Coachwork re-painted in the very desirable metallic blue base coat & lacquer. A Jaguar heritage certificate comes with the car, this proves the car is a 3.8 and the date of manufacture was 1963. The gearbox originally was a Moss Box, this has been replaced for the later Jaguar synchromesh box. The car has always been garaged & has covered very little mileage over the years really since the restoration, however this Jaguar did confidently embark on a continental trip straight after the restoration was complete & apparently performed faultlessly. After a short run out in this extremely beautiful Jaguar Mk2 3.8 we soon established it is everything and more than we could have ever hoped to expect. The car drives & sounds really wonderful, the monocoque construction as apposed to body on chassis made these cars handle better overall. The XK 3.8 engine was always the most desirable & particularly quick in its day with a top speed of 120mph & acceleration to match. The drive is faultless in every way. Even after changing fashions & designs in the car industry over the years this is still an extraordinary beautiful car. At 57 years old she can still effortlessly make you smile & propel you down the road in comfort & at a brisk turn of speed. The ride is smooth without issue & has the ability to iron out all of the bumps as Jaguars always do.
